WCLRA's Rivers' Initiative
The WCLRA has applied for a DNR "River Planning Grant" to obtain funding
that will enable us to expand our membership and programs beyond our current
"lake focus" by launching a Yellow River Initiative in 2003.
On Friday, July 18, 2003 members of WCLRA met some DNR and UW extension
folks for a tour of the Yellow River. We began our paddling down stream
at the Green Valley Rd. crossing.
Our first stop was at the outfall area for the Shell Lake Diversion pipeline.
Some of us ventured up into the mouth of Sawyer Brook, and marveled
at the sudden coldness and clarity of the water.
